Running Water!
This month is the 4 year anniversary of the start of building Casa Nissi! What a journey! I am pleased to announce that we now have running water in the house, hot and cold water! Water! It changes everything! Running water in the sinks, tubs, toilets and even the dishwasher! It is for sure a beautiful day for celebrations!
Man, I have given up hope so many times, but I continued to hold on to the promises of God, that we will finish and finish well! Every time, I wash the dishes, clothes in the machine at the church where I live, I always got a bit of a shock! Literally! The church does not have a ground wire, so if I did not have rubber sole shoes or unplug the washing machine before putting in detergent or taking wet clothes out, it was always a shocking surprise! (they did ground wire the bathroom, so I was safe there!) It has been frustrating to say the least, but now I only have to deal with this a little longer. My 52 steps from the church to the house is getting closer! This is just the beginning, of more things to come but, wow, it is huge!
Thank you for standing with me and your faithful support! I couldn’t do it without you!
TOGETHER! WE ARE CHANGING LIVES…ONE STEP AT A TIME!
Casa Nissi, First Bread
What to do when you have water? Make Bread! I walked those 52 steps between the church and house in a rush to move all my kitchen stuff! I decided to make zucchini bread, to be sure the oven was working. It’s working! Zucchini, produced from the land of Casa Nissi! I worked hard for 3 years trying to garden on this dry, unproductive land, and finally, this year, produce you can actually eat and it tastes good! Something significant is stirring in the spiritual and the results are manifesting in the physical, water, bread, I can’t wait to see what is next!
Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
John 6:35 NLT
Heating System Campaign!
Now that we have water, we can connect a heating system. We launched a fund raising campaign on social media 2 weeks ago, for heat pump system for Casa Nissi. Feel free to share / watch our videos on all social media outlets. It is critical we move on this now and resolve before the weather turns cold. Currently it is blistering hot, near 40 celsius (100 Fahrenheit) for weeks now and little to no rain! It is dry, dusty and hot! But soon this will change and we want to be prepared! A heat pump system is ideal for our situation, it pumps water, and we now have water. No more wood, cutting wood, going outside to put wood in the heating system in the dead of winter and middle of night, just push a thermostat up or down! This is something that gets me excited, can you imagine, pushing a button to get warmer!?
We are half way to our goal! Will you help us get to the finish? We would like to have all the funds by August 30th. Then we can start organizing a company to come and install. (With 4 years of experience, that could take us into winter by the time that is finished!) So you can help us get a head start?
From 52 to 25 Steps!
Although the time is nearly here for me to be the first to move to Casa Nissi, we are not quite there yet! We have many finishing touches to make before I can stop walking that path between the house and church. Mainly, painting and cleaning the space for me, and resolving some electrical lighting issues, and…and… But the hope is rising and soon and very soon, I can enjoy nesting in my own space. Privacy, even for the short term, will be awesome! Living in the church is quiet, but it is a shared space. I feel like I will be free in Casa Nissi, no more getting surprise shocks, I can wash dishes barefoot! Now, the kitchen sink is in one room and the stove/oven (no running water in this room) is in another. Cooking all in one space, wow! A dream! I laugh out loud at these thoughts as I write, but it is true, a dream to go from 52 to 0 steps!
Then to stop talking about Casa Nissi and construction and start the ground breaking work on the project that has been burning in my heart for 9 years:
BRING THEM HOME!
