President & Founder

President & Founder

I’m Cindy Getchman, president and founder of Stepping Stone Missions. For over 15 years, I’ve served as a missionary alongside the local Pentecostal church, devoted to transforming lives through Christ-centered care, education, and restoration.

What began as a simple outreach to feed children has grown into a vibrant day care center that now provides daily meals for 80 children and their families. Our focus is on integrating them into schools, helping them succeed academically, and most importantly making them feel accepted and loved. Many are the first in their families’ history to attend school.

Today, I’m also pioneering Casa Nissi, the first survivor home in our region for girls escaping the darkness of the sex and prostitution industry. Casa Nissi is a refuge - a place of safety, healing, and hope - where young women can begin to recover physically, mentally, and spiritually, and encounter the redemptive love of Jesus.

I am deeply passionate about standing against abuse and exploitation. My life’s calling is to help girls break free, become survivors, and walk boldly into a future filled with dignity, purpose, and faith. My mission is to Bring Them Home.

Trafficking in Romania

In 2023, the government identified 428 victims (279 sex trafficking, 50 labor trafficking, 99 unspecified forms of trafficking), a modest decrease from 492 in 2022. Of the 428 victims, 218 were children (51 percent), and 139 were girl sex trafficking victims. The vast majority of identified victims were Romanian citizens, of which 320 were exploited in country and 123 were exploited in Western Europe.
